BRUNNEN - “La Burra”, the Austrian boat helmed by Thomas Laherstorfer, conquered the highest step of the podium during the third act of the Alpen Cup that took place in Brunnen, Switzerland, last week end. The second place is for “Damaris” helmed by Guenther Prummer, followed by “Aramis” of the “Swiss Sail Art Team“, with the brothers Sigrist on board.

BRUNNEN FÖHNHAFEN - After the World Championship in Alicante just concluded, here we are with another important international appointment for the Platu 25 class. It’s the third act of the Alpen Cup, the prestigious circuit in four acts taking place on the Alpine Lakes of Austria, Switzerland and Italy that is involving more and more Platu 25 crews.

The Greeks against all the best Spanish Platu 25 crews. That is in synthesis what is happening in Alicante during a more and more exiting and passionate World Championship (18-24 July). The Greek team “Modus Vivendi 3 Alfa” of Kostas Karageorgiou with Takis Mantis at the helm, is leading again after 10 races, with just eight points of distance from the Spanish  “Mexillón de Galicia-Movistar” of the brothers Carlos and Antòn Paz  - that triumphed in Punta Ala last year conquering the ambitious title of 2009 Platu 25 World Champions - and with 15 points from “Iberdrola“of Manuel Weiller (2006 World Champion).

Alicante, 10th may of  2010.- Since the organization of the Platú 25 World
Championship was awarded to Real Club de Regatas de Alicante one of the main
objectives was to meet the needs of sailors during the regatta not only
during the event but also before and after each race.

In order to cover this need, the basic need of the participants was raised.
The Real Club de Regatas de Alicante with Halcon Viajes Travel reached an
agreement that allows all concerned sailors to manage easily and comfortable
accommodation and subsistence during the days of competition.

The Organizing Committee  of the Platu25 World Championship 2010 and the RCRA, last week signed agreements with two companies specialized in boat transports. TRANSCOMA and YACHTS IN MOTION  can transport your boat from a port near you (in Europe)  to Alicante and back,  in very affortable  rates!!. This is a very convinient way to  ship your boat and avoid towing it for thousands of kilometers in the motorways of Europe. Boats transports will  be organized from the ports of Livorno and Civitavecchia ( Italy), Pireaus (Greece) ,Derince(Turkey), Palma de Mallorca (Spain) and Bremerhaven (northern Germany).

MONACO – German “Farr Bar” with Jens Ahlgrim at the helm  “is the winner  of the Primo Cup-Trophée Credit Suisse 2010. Eight regattas, that took place in the marvellous Monaco Bay from the 12th  to the 14th of February, were  very hard and tactical because of a shifty wind that forced crews to continuous manoeuvres and fast direction changes.

The German team (with crew composed by Stephan Mölle; Mathias Gedrange, Enrico Taufer e Carsten Wernecke)) had to defend the first place on the podium against “Xacobeo 2010 Galicia” of Pepe Lis Santos and David Louzao,  the very competitive Spanish team  that finished their regattas with just one point of distance from the winner.

On behalf of the organizing authority and the organizing committee I may herby announce, that it is a great pleasure and honour, to arrange the 2011 Platu 25 world championship on lake Traunsee. The organizing authority will be the Union Yachtclub Traunsee (UYCT) in Gmunden. The lake Traunsee and its most traditional Union Yacht Club Traunsee, are famous for their great hospitality and the typical local thermal breeze. Due to that, the lake Traunsee is one of the most popular sailing venues in Austria.

KOSTAS KARAGEORGIOU TELLS ABOUT EMOTIONS AND  SURPRISES

They took part in the Platu 25World Championship in Punta Ala with the intention of winning it. They missed the result just for a bit. If  the Spanish team “Vilagarcia” didn’t win, the very competitive Greek team of “Modus Vivendi Alfa 3” would conquer the title of Platu 25 World Championship for the second consecutive year. But, as we know, it didn’t happen.

In spite of it, it’s great the satisfaction for the second place.   Moreover “Modus Vivendi” managed to break the Spanish predominance: without them, the Spanish would conquer all the first places in the Gold List.

THE HELMSMAN CARLOS PAZ REVEALS THE SECRETS OF THE NEW PLATU 25 WORLD CHAMPIONS

“Vilagarcia”, the Spanish team from Galicia, triumphed in Punta Ala conquering the ambitious title of 2009 Platu 25 World Champion. “Vilagarcia” won against  the very competitive Spanish Fleet – the “Invincible Armada”  - that occupies almost all the first positions in the Gold list. From the first place to the 7th position the Iberian dominion was total; just the second place wasn’t Spanish but Greek thanks to “Modus Vivendi- 3Alfa” of Kostas Karageorgiou.

After 12 very competitive regattas and after five exciting days, the new Platu 25 World Champion is “Vilagarcia”,  the Spanish team from Galizia with Anton Paz at the helm. Every body expected a play off between the Spanish teams “Vilagarcia” and “Tuypan Caixanova Men” of Marcos Perez e Roy Alonso that yesterday was second in the Gold list with the same score of “Volagarcia””. But “Tuypan” slip to the 5th place and there were some surprises in the final ranking list.

Today there were two races; one at around 11.30 and the other at 15.30. And for some crews it was the day of the revenge. First of all for the Greek team of “Modus Vivendi – Alfa 3” – 2008 Platu 25 World Champions – that could go up, concluding at the second place in the Gold list. Today they were very brilliant and they finished with a marvellous first place in the last race. The Greeks partially broke the Spanish dominion: without them, 6 Spanish teams would occupy the first 6 places.
