The 2010 Platu 25 World Championship in Alicante was a big success in the words of Edoardo Barni
The World Championship wasn’t just competition and adrenalin, but was also high emotions, hopes and delusions, fair-play and friendship. An irreplaceable occasion to meet and know other crews coming form different Countries, a unique moment to compare ourselves with Champions and very talented yachtsmen. In Alicante there was a special warm atmosphere and all the participants felt it.

At the end, a lot of dreams have been realized thanks to the effort, perseverance and strength, and a lot of strength of will. There are no impossible dreams, neither challenges that cannot be overcome . We could share a lot of stories in the Real Club Village in Alicante and one of them is about the Italian boat “Aria”, supported by AIDO.

Kostas Karageorgiou’s “Modus Vivendi-3Alfa” won back the World title in the waters of Alicante. The Greek boat was crowned Champion after six days of fierce competition. The sailors coming from Greece, who got the sceptre in 2008 and Silver in 2009, were undoubtedly the best and most consistent team. Suffice to say that they won with a race to spare. in which, nonetheless, they ended up in sixth.
Numbers don't lie, their score is impressive with three victories, a third, two sixth, two seventh and an eleventh as their worst. Their consistency was apparent in any of the thirteen races and sometimes their superiority did not leave any chance to their opponents.
The rest of the podium is an all Spanish affair with “Carpantxo” owned by Jesús Pintos getting the Silver while “Iberdrola” helmed by Manu Weiller the Bronze.

After two intensive days and five races the Greek team “Modus Vivendi-3Alfa” keeps the first place in the general ranking list of the Platu 25 World Championship in Alicante (18-24 July). Yesterday the Greeks - already Champions in 2008 - had to abandon the first race because of a technical problem and the Spanish Armada could gain upon them. “Mexillón de Galicia-Movistar” from Galicia conquered the second place followed by “La Revoltosa” from Valencia. Definitely today is the recovery day for the Spanish boats.

KIEL – After four very intensive days and nine competitive races, a Swiss team conquered the higher step of the podium in Kiel. The Platu 25 class was represented on this occasion by an “Ocean of German boats”. Among seventeen Platu 25 that take part in the prestigious event, only two were from abroad: a Swiss boat and an Austrian one. Its odds on that a German boat would win but, surprisingly, the brilliant guys from Switzerland showed, from the very first day, to be in a class of their own .
As Markus Sigrist pointed out: “The “Kieler Woche” has taken place for more than a hundred years. Within this very old tradition just two Swiss Teams were able to win since 1987 over all classes (Olympic and International). SUI 493 is the third one to succeed. So, for us, the Swiss SailArt-Team and for the Olympic participant, Simon Brügger, it is a great satisfaction to have won one of the most prestigious European sailing-events”.

The Club Náutico of Barcelona is one of the oldest sailing clubs in Spain. A quick look at its trophy section brings a deep feeling of classic yachting and high level competition. World and Olympic Champions, Counts, Kings, Princes, and many top-level, world-class sailors have raced under its colors. This is the magnificent venue that the Platu 25 Class of Spain has chosen to kick off one of the most competitive seasons of its short history.
The Spanish Platu Class has designed a summer calendar that intends to be irresistibly attractive for the international teams on their way to Alicante. KOSTAS KARAGEORGIOU TELLS ABOUT EMOTIONS AND SURPRISES
They took part in the Platu 25World Championship in Punta Ala with the intention of winning it. They missed the result just for a bit. If the Spanish team “Vilagarcia” didn’t win, the very competitive Greek team of “Modus Vivendi Alfa 3” would conquer the title of Platu 25 World Championship for the second consecutive year. But, as we know, it didn’t happen.
In spite of it, it’s great the satisfaction for the second place. Moreover “Modus Vivendi” managed to break the Spanish predominance: without them, the Spanish would conquer all the first places in the Gold List.
