Kostas Karageorgiou’s “Modus Vivendi-3Alfa” won back the World title in the waters of Alicante. The Greek boat was crowned Champion after six days of fierce competition. The sailors coming from Greece, who got the sceptre in 2008 and Silver in 2009, were undoubtedly the best and most consistent team. Suffice to say that they won with a race to spare. in which, nonetheless, they ended up in sixth.

Numbers don't lie, their score is impressive with three victories, a third, two sixth, two seventh and an eleventh as their worst. Their consistency was apparent in any of the thirteen races and sometimes their superiority did not leave any chance to their opponents.
The rest of the podium is an all Spanish affair with “Carpantxo” owned by Jesús Pintos getting the Silver while “Iberdrola” helmed by Manu Weiller the Bronze.

Eight regattas, that took place in the marvellous Monaco Bay from the 12th  to the 14th of February, were  very hard and tactical because of a shifty wind that forced crews to continuous manoeuvres and fast direction changes.

The German team (with crew composed by Stephan Mölle; Mathias Gedrange, Enrico Taufer e Carsten Wernecke)) had to defend the first place on the podium against “Xacobeo 2010 Galicia” of Pepe Lis Santos and David Louzao,  the very competitive Spanish team  that finished their regattas with just one point of distance from the winner.

The Spanish and International fleet will gather in Barcelona in the last weekend of June to pass the first main preliminary test before the Alicante World Championship 2010.

The Club Náutico of Barcelona is one of the oldest sailing clubs in Spain. A quick look at its trophy section brings a deep feeling of classic yachting and high level competition. World and Olympic Champions, Counts, Kings, Princes, and many top-level, world-class sailors have raced under its colors. This is the magnificent venue that the Platu 25 Class of Spain has chosen to kick off one of the most competitive seasons of its short history.

The Spanish Platu Class has designed a summer calendar that intends to be irresistibly attractive for the international teams on their way to Alicante. Our aim is to bring in as many boats as possible to create a sort of Mediterranean Circuit (first, Barcelona, then Valencia –Reina Trophy- and finally, Alicante) that will be easily accounted as one of the most competitive and tied racing series of the world in 2010.

They arrived to Punta Ala coming from the other site of the World and they conquered everybody with their enthusiasm and their sympathy. Directly from the Country of Russell Coutts, the team “Oceanbridge” from New Zealand made the Platu 25 World Championship more international, together with the Thailandese boat and Japanese teams “Bros” of Noafumi kamei and “Lucky Lady VI” of Kenta Inaba.

From New Zealand are coming very good news regarding the Platu 25 National fleet: there were 11 new boats in Auckland in 2008 and the Saling Season overthere is getting more and more intensive. Also the situation in Japan and Thailand is quite good: some Japanese boats, specially “Bros”, don’t miss any International appointment; in their calendar there are still now the Primo Cup in Monte Carlo and the next Platu 25 World Championship in Alicante

KOSTAS KARAGEORGIOU TELLS ABOUT EMOTIONS AND  SURPRISES

They took part in the Platu 25World Championship in Punta Ala with the intention of winning it. They missed the result just for a bit. If  the Spanish team “Vilagarcia” didn’t win, the very competitive Greek team of “Modus Vivendi Alfa 3” would conquer the title of Platu 25 World Championship for the second consecutive year. But, as we know, it didn’t happen.

In spite of it, it’s great the satisfaction for the second place.   Moreover “Modus Vivendi” managed to break the Spanish predominance: without them, the Spanish would conquer all the first places in the Gold List.
