WEYREGG/ATTERSEE - After the success in 2011, everything is ready for the 5th Central European Alp Cup Edition (CEAC), the Circuit on the Alpine Lakes of Austria, Switzerland and Italy that is attracting more and more Platu 25 crews. This year, the four legs of Alpen Cup Circuit will be placed in the Alpine lakes of Attersee and Traunsee in Austria, Luzern lake in Switzerland and in Como lake. From May to September, the 2012 Platu 25 Alpen Cup will involve crews from different nationalities.
The first appointment with the Alpen Cup will be on the Attersee Lake, Austria, on the 5th and 6th of May. After that, just a few days later, there will be the second leg in Traunsee, during the prestigious Traunsee week (17-20May) with tens of crews of different classes. The III leg will be competed in Brunnen, on the Luzern Lake, Switzerland (24-26 August) and the last leg in Domaso, on the Lake of Como (1-2 September).
As Günther Prummer, President APCA and founder of the race, lined out: “ It´s very honorable to start the Alp-Cup season with the 6th anniversary at my home club. Starting with six boats in 2004 the race had a good development and more then 20 boats are expected this year. With Mercedes-Benz as long-time partner for many Austrian races, it was easy to create an especial sailing venue. For sure there will be a big party with dinner and an extraordinary Austrian band at Saturday night. For the winning crew there will be nice prizes from Marinepool and Beneteau. The winner will be awarded the Attersee Challenge Cup.”
The Italian and International President of Platu 25 Edoardo Barni confirmed: “The Alpine area became a nerve centre for the Platu 25 International Platu 25 class, thanks to the Central European Alp Cup that is gathering crews from 4 different nationalities. Last year, the World Championship in Gmunden, on the Traunsee Lake, made this area even more attractive. The central and strategic position of this area will guarantee a big participation of Platu 25 crews from all over Europe. For everybody that’s an important occasion to compete with International adversaries”.
The most talented Platu 25 crews will have to face the Swiss guys on board of “Superbüsi” helmed by Mathias Bermejo who conquered the 2011 Alpen Cup, followed by the Austrian “La Burra” helmed by Thomas Laherstorfer with the Swiss Markus Sigrist as a tactician. Last year the third step of the podium was for the Italian boat “Pirillina” helmed by Claudio Fasoli.
