The Greeks against all the best Spanish Platu 25 crews. That is in synthesis what is happening in Alicante during a more and more exiting and passionate World Championship (18-24 July). The Greek team “Modus Vivendi 3 Alfa” of Kostas Karageorgiou with Takis Mantis at the helm, is leading again after 10 races, with just eight points of distance from the Spanish “Mexillón de Galicia-Movistar” of the brothers Carlos and Antòn Paz - that triumphed in Punta Ala last year conquering the ambitious title of 2009 Platu 25 World Champions - and with 15 points from “Iberdrola“of Manuel Weiller (2006 World Champion).
The present Champions will try all the possible to keep the prestigious title, as Antón Paz, tactic of “Mexillón de Galicia-Movistar“, confirmed: “We completed the fourth day of regatta and just now I can say that it’s one of the higher level Championship I have ever took part in the Platu 25 class. Today we talked about our placements and we realized that we didn’t get any first place. So in the last day, we have to make a further effort in order to press our adversaries and get the victory, We know we can’t fail and we know that we have to do our best for the good exit of this Championship” .
From the second to the ninth position, the Spanish dominion is absolute even if the ranking list changed a lot. “Carpanxto” of Jesus Pintos slips from the second to the fourth place. For them the podium is getting far but not impossible There are just 5 points of distance from “Iberdrola“ and today there will be other two races. Also “La Revoltosa” of A. Rodger gets down from the third to the sixth
The German “Flexi” of Bogdhan, with Niklas Ganssauge at the helm, that was so brilliant yesterday, had to accept a relegation from the sixth to the 10th place, losing definitely the hope of reaching the podium.
The first of the Italians are “Brera Hotel” of Emanuele Vitrano and Alberto Wolleb with Sandro Montefusco (13th position) and “Euz II Monella Vagabonda” of Iacerra (15th).
The best crews of the day were the Spanish “Iberdrola” (1-2-3) and “Xacobeo” of E.
Pons that, after a not brilliant first race (14th) placed two fantastic first. Also “Bribon-
Movistar” of M. De Antonio concluded third in the second race, while “Modus Vivendi”
placed a second in the first race,
Yesterday was a perfect day. The first part of the first race was competed with a weak wind (the start was postpone one hour after) but in the second part the weather conditions changed completely, with 11 knots of wind blowing from East (105°).The wind in the second race was even better with 14 knots and in the third it reached 20 knots offering big emotions to the participants.
