DERVIO – Everything is ready in Dervio, on the Lake of Como, for competing the fourth and last act of the 2010 Alpen Cup. After 3 very exciting legs, here we are with the last crucial races.
Next Saturday and Sunday (4-5 September), the Centro Vela Dervio (Sail Centre Dervio) will host around twenty Platu 25 that will take part to the competition sailing in the East branch of the Lake of Como, between Piona and Pianello Lario. So, the best sailors of Switzerland, Austria and Germany will gather on the start line together with the most competitive Italian crews, determined to take advantage of playing in “friendly waters”.
After two acts in Austria in May on the Attersee Lake and on the Traunsee lake during the prestigious Traunsee Woche, and one act last weekend in Brunnen, onshore Urnersee one of the branches of the Vierwaldstättersee (Lake of the four Cantons) in Switzerland, it’s the Italian turn of this third edition of the Alpen Cup that, as in the previous editions, is involving the Alpine lakes of Austria, Switzerland and North Italy.
In Dervio an adrenalin challenge between the Swiss “Aramis-Sail Art Team” with the brother Sigrist on board and the Austrian “La Burra” helmed by Thomas Laherstorfer is expected.
Even if the Swiss are still leading the general ranking list, with the next discards and the aggressive new trend of “La Burra”, it will be difficult for the brothers Sigrist defend the title of 2009 Alpen Cup Champions. Laherstorfer showed all his talent, winning in Attersee in May and in Brunnen last week and he will be determined in conquer the highest step of the podium.
There will be also a strong battle for the third place on the podium between the Swiss “Like a Vergin” helmed by Mathias Bermejo and the German “B 52” of Felix Horn.
In this act there will be almost the whole Platu 25 Lake of Como fleet. Among them, “Pirillina” of brothers Claudio and Mauro who took part to all the Alpen Cup legs, “Lo Sguscio” helmed by Domenico Bertolini who was in the Austrian act, “B532” of the brothers Redaelli, “Kong-Bambino Viziato” of Simonetta and Richard Martini, “A Sail ‘1ma” helmed by Duilio Bassani. Probabily, there will be also the Champion Pierluigi Puthod on board of “Masquenada” of Michele Lattuada. That’s will make all the competition more exiting.
