“Nanuk”, helmed by Luigi Ravioli, won again the prestigious Platu 25 Italian Champion title in Porto Santo Stefano, Tuscany. The boat, armed by Giancarlo Catalano and Giuseppe Tesorone (Reale Circolo Tevere Remo) confirmed its supremacy one more time. Last year, indeed, “Nanuk” became the 2009 Italian Champion in Monopoli, Puglia (South Italy) and it was also the 2009 Italian ranking list leader.
From the 30th of September to the 3rd of October, “Nanuk” collected in Santo Stefano four first places and one second, out of 10 races. The “Nanuk” team was able also to overcome the bad luck (the boat was disqualified because of a tonnage problem). They filed an appeal and, at the end, they entered again the competition, confirming their talent in the field regatta.
“Mistress”, armed by Luigi Attolini (Lega Navale di Monopoli) and helmed by Giuseppe Maglietta, obtained the second place. “Mistress” fought against “Nanuk” for four days, taking turn with “Nanuk” at leading the general ranking list. They also obtained a brilliant first place in the last day, but it wasn’t enough to compensate the 8th and 7th position in the other two races of the day.
Vallicelli Francesco’s “VisProeco” (International YC Marinara) helmed by Antonello Ciabatti – “VisProeco” was the 2007 Platu 25 Italian Champion - conquered the third step of the podium, with just one point of distance on the second. “Five for Fighting” of Tommaso De Bellis, helmed by Alberto La Tegola obtained the 4th place (they were the 2008 Italian ranking list winners).
The regatta field was very technical, as Marco Poma, the Santo Stefano Yacht Club Sport Director, had already told. The wind was shifty and it changed direction continuously, making even more exiting the competition.
After four acts, the 2010 Italian Championship – started last April in Nettuno, near Rome, finished last week end in Porto Santo Stefano. It was an intense and absorbing Championship, with a lot of races and participants. The appointment is for the next year with a new Platu 25 Italian Championship. In the next months all the local fleets will organize their Winter Championships inn order to arrive ready and well trained to the next National and International appointments.
