
THE FIRST 2010 INTERNATIONAL APPOINTMENT FOR THE PLATU 25 CLASS (11-14 February)
After the success of the World Championship in Punta Ala, with 93 crews
coming from three Continents, for the Platu 25 class is now the moment for an other International event.
The next special occasion is the “Primo Cup - Trophée Credit Suisse” scheduled from the 1st to the 14th of Febrary in the Principality of Monaco, where it will be possible to join the most competitive Platu 25 crews.
As the President of the Platu 25 International class Edoardo Barni underlined: “2010 will be a special year for our class with a very intensive sailing saison. Next May there will be the Alpen Cup, with the first leg in Attersee (8-9 May) and in Traunsee (13-16 May) Austria, and next July, from the 18th to the 24th, there will be the Platu 25 World Championship in Alicante, Spain, an appointment giving advance notice of being special for number of crews and for competitive level.
The “Primo Cup” is a real institution with a special charm for international crews.
Created in 1985 by Prince Albert II, the Monaco Yacht Club President, the “Primo Cup - Trophée Credit Suisse”, is an unforgettable rendez-vous. Last year more then 800 crews reached the Monaco Principality in order to race during four very exiting days.
For the Platu 25 class the next edition of Primo Cup will be an occasion that cannot be renounced. In the last years Platu 25 class has been strongly attracted by “Primo Cup”: not just because of the very warm Monaco Winter but also for the very good race technical level and the high competition level of the class.
The positive trend of the previous years would be confirmed for the 2010 edition. crews from Italy, Spain, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and France are expected in Monaco Principality.
THE PLATU 25 DEFENDER OF PRIMO CUP SPEAKS SPANISH
Natalia Via Dufresne at the helm of “Central Lechera Asturiana won the Primo Cup for the Platu 25 class last year after a breathtaking duel withthe German boat “Farr Bar” of Stephan Mölle with Jens Ahlgrimm at the helm (second place) and the Italian “Nanuk” of Gianrocco Catalano, with Luigi Ravioli at the helm (third place).
The Spanish predominance of the “Invicible Armada” during the Platu 25 World Championship in Punta Ala, could be confirmed in Monaco Principality one more time: Natalia Via Dufresnel, Champion in the Primo Cup 2009, will take part in the next Primo Cup. There will be also “Prix 1” and probably Ziving-Badia” of Javier Arbona and Javier Momparler of the Comunitat Valenciana. To contrast the Spanish predominance there will be some of the best German crews, like Farrbar” of Stephan Mölle and “Scenker”.
The Italian fleet also will line up champions like Nanuk” of Gianrocco Catalano and “Brera Hotels” of Emanuele Vitrano, with Alberto Wolleb at the helm. It’s expected but not sure the partecipation of the Greek boat of “Modus Vivendi – 3 Alfa” of Kostas Karageorgius, 2008 Primo Cup and Platu 25 World Championship Champion.
From the 1st to the 4th of February Dragon, Esse 850, Melges 24, Melges 20, Smeralda 888 and K650 will be protagonist. Surprice will start their regatta from the 10th of February. For the Platu 25 crews, the appointment is on the11th of February with the enrolment, together with Longze Premier, Mumm 30, Melges 32 and J24.
In the same day, at 17.30 there will bea n Happy Hour organized by the Yacht Club of Monaco. On Friday, February 12, at 10 o’clock the first start. Then, until Sunday there will competitive fight in order to conquer the XXVI edition of the Prestigious Primo Cup 2010.
